After graduating from her Bachelor Degree Mikkayla moved on to a year dedicated to full time dance training in all genres of dance including jazz, ballet, lyrical, hip hop, tap, musical theatre and singing at Dance Factory in Melbourne. Mikkayla completed her full-time training in 2015 and went on to then commence a Masters Degree in Primary and Secondary Education with Deakin University. "I am a bubbly individual with a big love for all things dance. I love teaching and I prioritise safe dance training and a fun environment in my dance classes.
I’ve been dancing since the age of 4 and found my passion for dance in my teen years. I began to take as many dance classes as I could in as many styles as possible, as well as competing locally, regionally and nationally. I’m originally from country Victoria but moved to Melbourne to pursue a career in dance. I completed my full time dance training at Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance from 2019-2020, receiving both a Diploma of Dance and Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management.
I have been teaching since the age of 17 in a variety of dance styles, age groups and skill levels. I am an Acrobatic Arts certified teacher having completed my Module 1 training in 2017 and Module 2 training in 2020. I’ve found my favorite thing about dance teaching is my ability to nurture young students’ passion for dance. Personally, there is no greater feeling than helping my students achieve a skill they have worked so hard on, seeing them grin from ear to ear in my classes, and watching them dance their hearts out in the studio and on stage."
